Ransome’s Russia in Morecambe

An example of Russian artistry

Decoration in Russian Style.

At the present time, when our coutry is sadly torn by conflict with Russia, the country which so enchanted Arthur Ransome, it seems appropriate to reflect on the wonderful culture and beautiful art the country has offered through the centuries.

Keegan’s a sandwich shop and cafe in Morecambe which also serves excellent borscht soup has this wonderful dinnerware on display.  The exotic design is so quintessentially Russian and the paint used I was told is only available in Russia!

The manageress kindly allowed me to take this photo for the post.

This place is worth a lunchtime visit.

Meanwhile I will continue to work on completing my Moonlight page recording and hopefully will have something for you next Thursday!
